Improving Affiliate Relationships

If you run an affiliate program or are looking to launch one, you will have no doubt come across in your research that developing good relationships with your affiliates is one of the key components to a successful campaign. To do that takes time and effort but can be the difference between a successful campaign and a campaign that ticks along with little momentum.

Here are my top tips for improving your relationships:

Communicate regularly

Affiliates will find it harder to achieve sales if you do not communicate to them regularly with updates on products, sales or promotions. Additionally, you should always be on hand for any help and support and respond to them in a timely manner to build a harmonious and beneficial relationship for you both.

Ask for feedback

Asking your affiliates for feedback on what they would like to see from you or what they think might help improve the campaign can provide some valuable insight so make sure you are doing this on a regular basis to understand your affiliates, and whether you like their feedback or not take it on board.

Also, whether you just email them asking questions or provide a feedback form for them to fill in, make sure to thank them for their feedback personally.

Provide resources

You need your affiliates to understand your products, brand and target audience so by providing them with regular marketing materials will help enormously. There is a good chance your marketing team already have some of this information stored so it could be a case of simply emailing the information across to them which is not time consuming to say the least.

Do your research

I would recommend you meet up with your top affiliates on a regular basis to discuss opportunities and ideas with them but do not turn up to the meeting unless you have done your research on your affiliates and their website and understand the way they work. You need to ensure your ideas sit right with their business plans and needs.

Affiliate marketing is a low risk route to market that can be extremely beneficial to your business both financially and extending the reach of your brand.
